SWEET ALMOND OIL
Sweet Almond Oil Prunus amygdalus dulcis is obtained by cold pressing the seeds of the sweet almond tree, native to Western Asia and widely distributed across the Mediterranean basin. Sweet almond oil is a highly emollient, restorative oil, ideal for dry, damaged or frizz-prone hair. It is one of the oldest and most versatile plant oils, used in cosmetics, traditional medicine and cookery alike.
TRADITIONAL USE
Sweet almond oil has a long history across different cultures. In ancient Persia, Greece and Rome, it was used as a body and hair oil to soften and perfume the skin and hair. It also formed part of medicinal ointments and relaxing massages, and was used to soothe skin irritation, minor burns and flaking. In Ayurvedic and traditional Islamic medicine it was considered a nourishing tonic, used both internally and externally. It was applied to improve hair strength, calm the scalp and promote growth, and featured in pre-wedding beauty rituals for its softening properties.
